Which RX-7 to import
The two most sought-after generations are the FC3S (1985–1991) and the FD3S (1991–2002). The FD is the icon: its 13B-REW twin-rotor engine uses sequential twin turbochargers, and the car’s low weight and balance make it a benchmark handler.
Desirable FD grades include the Type R and Type RS, and the final-run Spirit R. Because the rotary engine and its condition are central to value, verifying compression and history at auction is essential — which is exactly what we check on the inspection sheet before bidding.
Importing an RX-7 to your country
For the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia the RX-7 is right-hand drive from the factory, so it fits RHD markets directly — there is no age restriction in the UK or Ireland.
For the United States, the FD RX-7 qualifies under the 25-year import rule; the earlier FD model years (from 1991) have now passed the threshold, with later years following each year. The FC is fully eligible.
